Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at 12:00 p.m.: Cybersecurity, The Pandemic, and You
Dr. Eniye Tebekaemi, assistant professor in Mercer’s College of Liberal Arts and cyber security program coordinator, along with Todd Renner, FBI Atlanta Supervisory Special Agent (SSA), will discuss how cyber-criminals are taking advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic to achieve their goals and what individuals and businesses can do to mitigate the risk.
About the Speakers
Dr. Tebekaemi is an assistant professor in the computer science department and the undergraduate cybersecurity program coordinator within Mercer's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Information Technology (Concentration in Cybersecurity) from George Mason University, an MSc. in Applied Computer Science from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and a BEng. in Computer Engineering from the University of Benin, Nigeria. His research focuses on information security and its applications, especially in the cyber-resiliency and security of cyber-physical systems.
FBI Atlanta Supervisory Special Agent (SSA) Todd Renner leads a team of investigators focused on imposing risk and consequences for nation state actors who pose a threat to our national security and the pursuit of financially motivated cyber criminals, around the globe. Prior to his assignment in Atlanta, SSA Renner was the FBI Assistant Legal Attaché (ALAT) in London, England, embedded with United Kingdom and Irish authorities, investigating complex international counterintelligence and computer intrusion activities. SSA Renner has also worked in FBI Headquarters Cyber Division Technical Operations Unit (TOU), developing, and implementing sophisticated intelligence generating opportunities for the U.S. Government. Special Agent Renner served as a Case Agent and SWAT Operator in multiple field offices within the United States. SSA Renner was a member of the FBI’s Computer Intrusion Response team and holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and a Master's in Business Administration.
