Professor Bowal has served as a professor of business law at the University of Calgary, a practicing attorney and a judge. He has had a long and varied career of academic and public agency leadership. He has worked in the U.S. on several occasions, including twice as a Fulbright Scholar and as a Supreme Court Fellow, and has taught U.S. law in both a business and law school. He has been published in numerous well-respected Canadian and international law journals and professional publications. His primary field of research is employment law and, in particular, the legal regulation of whistleblowing. His latest co-authored article was accepted in the American Business Law Journal. He has earned research grants, organized conferences, edited journals and won various teaching awards, including the highest teaching award of the Academy of Legal Studies in Business.
