Micah holds a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Arizona, an MBA in Finance and Decision Sciences from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign—where he also earned his CPA and CMA credentials. Micah joined Mercer as a Professor of Accounting, after serving as a Professor at California State University, East Bay. There, he developed and taught EMBA, MBA, and MS Taxation courses, integrating interactive group projects and hands-on learning into every class.

Leadership & Program Development

As Chair of Accounting and Finance, Micah orchestrated recruiting, budgeting, and course schedules while launching signature initiatives like the Center for Financial Literacy, the Small Business Development Center, a BS in Accounting and Analytics, and a 17-month cohort MS in Accountancy.

Later, as Associate Dean of the College of Business and Economics, he spearheaded AACSB and WASC accreditation drives, co-authored their accreditation reports, and partnered with the Advisory Board to fund the Valley Business and Technology building. He also founded the Student Success Center, overhauled budgeting with PeopleSoft to cut red tape, and guided the university’s first online Master’s in Taxation from proposal to approval.

Global Engagement

Micah’s passion for cross-cultural learning has taken him around the globe. He’s been a Visiting Professor in Vienna, Hong Kong, and Singapore, and a lecturer at institutions like Saint Mary’s College (CA), Olin School of Business (MO), and Fudan University (Shanghai). He has also developed customized training programs for accounting firms and financial institutions worldwide.
