Mercer University's Accounting program exposes students to all facets of accounting, including financial, cost, audit, taxation, not-for-profit and governmental accounting. Our dedicated faculty provide individualized attention to students in order to help facilitate their success. Mercer students are consistently successful in passing the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam, opening the door for a wide variety of accounting positions.
The Accounting major provides a strong foundation that prepares students to build a successful career and a lifetime of service in the accounting profession. Students have the opportunity to immerse themselves in real-world accounting settings. Accounting majors may also take a service-learning course that allows them to serve the Macon community by participating in the Internal Revenue Service's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program.
Individuals who successfully earn the bachelor of business administration degree with a major in accounting may pursue careers with public accounting firms, government agencies and corporations.
Recent placements of Mercer accounting graduates include positions with Deloitte, Ernest & Young, Price Waterhouse & Coopers and Reliance Trust Company.
