Dr. Bill Carty earned his Doctorate of Business Administration from the University of Florida. He also holds a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College, a Master of Science in Management from Troy State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of New Hampshire. Additionally, he has held the position of Senior Non-Resident Fellow at the Global National Security Institute at the University of South Florida and was a Senior Service College Fellow in International Security Studies at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. In addition to teaching, Dr. Carty serves a member of the Advisory Committee for the Mercer University Center for Leadership, Ethics and Service. Prior to joining Mercer, Dr. Carty served as a faculty member in the School of Business at Middle Georgia State University, where he taught various management courses, including the capstone course in Strategic Management. He was also responsible for developing the curriculum and serving as the program coordinator for the Master of Business in Professional Leadership Degree. Dr. Carty came to academia after a 26-year career in the US Army, retiring as a Colonel in the Special Forces in 2017. His research interests include leading and managing change, strategic planning and implementation, managing high-performing individuals and organizations, and gender representation in the workplace. He is an active member of several professional and service organizations.
