Combined Master of Business Administration/Master of Accountancy

In today’s competitive job climate, it’s important to set yourself apart from your competitors.Abound MBA 2020 Mercer’s Combined Master of Business Administration/Master of Accountancy degree program allows students to minimize time and financial investment to earn both degrees simultaneously. The Combined MBA/MAcc degree meets the course requirements to sit for the Uniform CPA exam and for CPA licensure in the State of Georgia.

The Combined MBA/MAcc program is offered on Mercer’s Atlanta campus in a flexible, self-paced format:

  • An individual course meets one evening per week.
  • Complete an entire course in an eight-week session.
  • Eight-week sessions enroll five times per year.
  • Comfortably take two classes per term to progress through the degree program more quickly.
  • The combined-degree model provides reduced tuition costs and faster time to degree completion.

The Combined Master of Business Administration/Master of Accountancy program's combined curriculum plan requires 60-81 credit hours in both MBA and MAcc coursework. With both MBA and MAcc courses built into the curriculum, students will gain preparation for the management of human, material and financial resources, as well as preparation for opportunities in public or private accounting.

Combined MBA/MAcc students are seeking advanced degrees in both business and accounting simultaneously.Though most students have an educational background in business or accounting, it is not required for admission. There is also no prior work experience requirement. Many students are working while studying and seek a flexible schedule with evening classes while others are studying full time while preparing for the CPA. The average age is 28 years old with five years of work experience.

Individuals who successfully complete a Mercer Combined MBA/MAcc degree program can go on to work as business professionals in positions including: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), treasury manager, tax accountant, cost accounting manager, auditor, or financial manager.

Applicants for the Master of Business Administration/Master of Accountancy program must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution; a major in business is not required.

The Combined Master of Business Administration/Master of Accountancy program enrolls students five times per year in January, March, May, August, and October. The next session starts January 7, 2021.

    Submit the required application fee in the form of a check or money order made payable to Mercer University.
  • Official GMAT or GRE Test Score

Applicants must take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and achieve a qualifying score. Applicants holding a graduate degree from a regionally accredited college or university or an equivalent international graduate degree may waive the GMAT requirement. Unofficial copies of the score report may be included with the application for initial review and evaluation, but an official score report will be required for applicants who are offered admission.

  • Transcripts from All Previously Attended Institutions

Submit an official transcript from each college or university previously attended. Former Mercer University students are not required to request a Mercer University transcript. You may submit official copies by:

Financial Planning
Students enrolling in the Combined MBA/MAcc program can take advantage of federal and/or private loan programs to assist with covering the costs of tuition. Mercer University’s Office of Student Financial Planning is equipped to provide up-to-date information on financial assistance available to graduate students via federal loan programs.

Non-U.S. citizens or students who graduated from a non-U.S. university must also complete the following requirements to be evaluated for admission:

  • Evaluation of Foreign Credentials

    Applicants who completed all or part of their education abroad are required to have their foreign educational credentials evaluated by an independent evaluation service. This evaluation must be completed by an approved  NACES evaluator or Lisano International. We recommend using Josef Silny or World Education Services.

    Professional transcript evaluations of college or university transcripts must include a course-by-course evaluation with GPA calculation.

    We must have an original document provided by the evaluation service sent directly to Mercer University. Transcripts from any U.S. College attended must also be provided.

  • Official Translations
    Documents submitted in a language other than English must be accompanied by official translations.
  • Proof of English Proficiency

Applicants whose native language is not English (identified by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Public Affairs) must provide evidence of English language proficiency. The English proficiency requirement may be fulfilled by submitting one of the following: a TOEFL or IELTS test score no more than two years old. Mercer's School of Business also now accepts the Duolingo English Test as proof of English proficiency.

Unofficial copies of the score report may be submitted for initial application review and evaluation. An official score report is required upon admission. For TOEFL/IELTS scores, use institution code 5025 to submit official reports.

Exception: A TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo score is not required of international applicants who have attended another U.S. institution and completed freshman English Composition I and II with a grade of "C" or higher.
