Mercer University’s Online Master of Business Administration program offers a rich academic experience that employs interactive technology to facilitate a dynamic learning environment. This program is tailored to meet the needs of busy working professionals already employed in the business sector who wish to further develop management and leadership skills. Students are able to stay connected with their academic network through online and in-person access to faculty and campus resources.

Classes are moderated by the same highly credentialed faculty as our in-class MBA programs, and the program’s flexible, self-paced format allows students to work and study around their busy schedules. Students who progress through the program at the recommended pace can earn the MBA degree in as little as 12 months. Students also have the option to attend some classes in a traditional classroom setting. Students are admitted five times per year in January, March, May, August, and October.

Beginning Fall 2020, students may pursue an accelerated 30 hour curriculum, or select a specialized concentration of study for a 36 hour curriculum. Available concentrations include: entrepreneurship and innovation, finance, global business, health care management, integrative business, managing people and change, and marketing.

The Online Master of Business Administration curriculum leads students to develop an understanding of human behavior, attitudes and skills necessary to achieve effective team-building and working relationships. The self-paced format allows students to earn their degree at their pace. Students may select a specialized concentration of study, which requires 12 semester hours (four courses) beyond the MBA core.

The 30-hour MBA features:

  • Three foundational courses*
  • Nine core courses and one elective course
  • MBA Capstone – a culmination course that provides students the opportunity to correlate, integrate and apply concepts and principles
  • Collaborative learning exercises and projects that simulate real-world business environments
  • Flexibility to progress through the program at your own pace

The 36-hour MBA features:

  • Three foundational courses*
  • Eight core courses and four concentration courses
  • MBA Capstone – a culmination course that provides students the opportunity to correlate, integrate and apply concepts and principles
  • Collaborative learning exercises and projects that simulate real-world business environments
  • Flexibility to progress through the program at your own pace

*All or some of the foundational courses may be satisfied by previous undergraduate coursework in business as evidenced by official transcripts.

The average age is 28 years old with five years of work experience. Students are typically working and have personal and professional commitments in addition to fulfilling their educational goals.

Individuals who successfully complete Mercer's Online MBA degree program can go on to work as business professionals in positions including: market researcher, financial analyst, healthcare administrator, supply chain analyst, customer engagement manager, account manager, business representative or associate brand and product management associate.

Applicants for the Online Master of Business Administration program must hold a bachelor's degree with a qualifying grade point average from a regionally accredited institution; a major in business is not required.

The Online Master of Business Administration program enrolls students five times per year in January, March, May, August, and October. The next session starts January 7, 2021.

    Submit the required application fee in the form of a check or money order made payable to Mercer University.
  • Official GMAT or GRE Test Score

Applicants must take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and achieve a qualifying score. Applicants holding a graduate degree from a regionally accredited college or university or an equivalent international graduate degree may waive the GMAT requirement. Unofficial copies of the score report may be included with the application for initial review and evaluation, but an official score report will be required for applicants who are offered admission.

  • Transcripts from All Previously Attended Institutions

Submit an official transcript from each college or university previously attended. Former Mercer University students are not required to request a Mercer University transcript. You may submit official copies by:

Financial Planning
Students enrolling in the Online MBA can take advantage of federal and/or private loan programs to assist with covering the costs of tuition. Mercer University’s Office of Student Financial Planning is equipped to provide up-to-date information on financial assistance available to graduate students via federal loan programs.

Non-U.S. citizens or students who graduated from a non-U.S. university must also complete the following requirements to be evaluated for admission:

  • Evaluation of Foreign Credentials

    Applicants who completed all or part of their education abroad are required to have their foreign educational credentials evaluated by an independent evaluation service. This evaluation must be completed by an approved  NACES evaluator or Lisano International. We recommend using Josef Silny or World Education Services.

    Professional transcript evaluations of college or university transcripts must include a course-by-course evaluation with GPA calculation.

    We must have an original document provided by the evaluation service sent directly to Mercer University. Transcripts from any U.S. College attended must also be provided.

  • Official Translations
    Documents submitted in a language other than English must be accompanied by official translations.
  • Proof of English Proficiency

Applicants whose native language is not English (identified by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Public Affairs) must provide evidence of English language proficiency. The English proficiency requirement may be fulfilled by submitting one of the following: a TOEFL or IELTS test score no more than two years old. Mercer's School of Business also now accepts the Duolingo English Test as proof of English proficiency.

Unofficial copies of the score report may be submitted for initial application review and evaluation. An official score report is required upon admission. For TOEFL/IELTS scores, use institution code 5025 to submit official reports.

Exception: A TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo score is not required of international applicants who have attended another U.S. institution and completed freshman English Composition I and II with a grade of "C" or higher.
