Risk Management and Insurance
Housed in our Finance major, the Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) track at Mercer University is one of our newest fields of study in the Stetson School of Business and Economics. It is designed to provide students with an overall background in risk management, property and casualty insurance, underwriting, and insurance company operations.
The RMI track in Finance focuses on principles that are related to risk measurement, mitigation, and management. The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of various functional areas of insurance company management including investment and financial policies as well as pricing and underwriting activities. Minors in RMI are available to students pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

Placement rate for graduates of the program is expected to be excellent because of established relationships with several Middle Georgia companies including the Georgia Farm Bureau and Southern Trust Insurance Company. With a combination of internships, RMI professionals serving as teachers, and close interaction between the RMI students and the industry, this program promises to be one of our strongest for years to come. The RMI program also prepares students for careers in risk management and portfolio analysis or financial planning. Graduates of RMI can go on to work as business professionals in positions including: actuarial assistant, compliance officer, pension administration analyst, actuarial analyst, deal structurer, product analyst, associate underwriter, financial analyst, risk management analyst, connotative derivative analyst, general manager, sales logistics support manager, consultant, insurance sales representative, or underwriter.
